Relax and imagine…

What is it that I really need in my life?

Relax, and identify your needs or desires.

So many people waste valuable time worrying. Worrying about things that will never happen, and a good portion of the balance of that time, worrying about things that they can’t control if they wanted to.

And even worse, worrying about things that have already happened. Unhappy people have lost focus on what is important. They’ve gone stagnant with their perception of happiness. The only real satisfaction that they feel is the feeling of more pain. It’s because they feel it is the only feeling that they can control, as well as “have” anytime they want. We become pain addicts.

The media today also has such a profound influence on how we feel about ourselves. Magazines, videos, TV and radio bombard us with so much useless and depressing information that it is a wonder that society gets anything positive accomplished. Everyone is spinning and bouncing from one obtuse thought to another so fast there is no way any of us could make any positive changes. We don’t have time to think about proactive moves, we are all too busy reacting.

This first step is about just letting your mind relax and imagine how your life would be if you could successfully make just a couple of changes in your life right now. What is it you really need to do, or to have, or accomplish? If we were to compare this whole exercise to a vacation, this is the step that we are determining where we want to go.

Write these things down, as you will need them when you start to reassemble your new life.
