Step Four – RESPOND TO YOUR QUESTION

The rubber meets the road…

Document and read the question and write down responses to your question. This is where your mind does it’s magic.

Of this exercise, this is the toughest part. Not physically hard obviously, but very grueling, trying to stay focused and engaged.

A typical session of retrieving answers will go something like this:

Read the question, and immediately about 4 or 5 answers will develop in your mind. Write them down fast, because they can disappear. A minute later another recordable thought will bubble up. Then you may have a dry spell for a few minutes.

The key to keeping the answers coming is to keep reading the question. Continually read that question. Read it like it is the most important thing you have to read or to study. Then all of a sudden 3 or 4 more possible solutions will surface.

Remember, write them down as fast as you can. Also, number the responses that your mind gives you. Keep at it.

Quiet areas with no distractions are the best place to be during this step.

Keep the following thought in your mind:

“I will read my question and document anything that comes to mind. I won’t spend a long time
qualifying the answer, I’ll just write it down. I’ll try to write as fast as my mind can produce
responses. Yes, I can abbreviate if I have to. My goal is 20 responses. There is no time limit!”
